The Idea Isn’t the Hard Part: Tertia Odyssey
Lots of people have ideas. Lots of people start brands (some industry estimates suggest anywhere from one to five new watch "brands" pop up every day). Lots of people have compelling stories about why they started those brands. A much smaller number actually execute.
That’s where the Tertia Odyssey gets interesting.

Ben from Tertia Watches discusses his flagship watch, the Odyssey, which I've gotten a change to wear for a little bit leading up to this interview. We talk about Ben's background in LE and an Infantryman in the National Guard. We talk about the impact of 2020 on policing, specifically for Ben in a major metropolitan area, causing him to leave for a federal agency. We discuss the challenges of creating a watch essentially from scratch instead of putting together a watch from catalog parts.
It was immediately apparent that he had something with the Odyssey.
I connected with Ben over at @tertiawatches basically the second he launched his page. It was immediately apparent that he had something with the Odyssey and he was kind enough to allow me some time with one of the prototypes. He sent it to me with no expectation of a review; he simply wanted my thoughts, but both Ben and the watch deserve a bit more.

Tertia is one person in Virginia. A founder named Ben, drawing his own cases instead of picking them out of a catalog, building his first watch. It is called the Odyssey.
He loaned me a prototype to wear and to be honest about. No money, no affiliate links, and the watch goes back to him when I am done. He has not seen a word of this in advance.
So, honestly.
It wears beautifully.

If you follow my page you know I have handled quite a bit of timepieces. I have acquired a certain taste and know exactly what I like and what works. I’m a simple blue collar worker who likes a rugged watch that’s highly legible, built tough, has great lume, keeps good time, OTF micro adjust and most importantly has some of its own DNA. The odyssey hits all the criteria right on the head.
Tertia Odyssey: A Dive Watch Done Right
Tertia Watches kind of hit the social media scene out of the blue. No history, no brand prestige, and no appearance at the watch meets and conventions. It didn’t appear to be anything special that other dive watches don’t, but as I soon found out, that’s what really makes it special.
